Interesting -- I never really thought about the mechanism where seeing or smelling certain food makes you re-experience sickness. I can see how analytically, it should only be necessary to remember that the food made you sick one time, and rationally determine if it is safe to eat this time. But the reactive mind indiscriminately causes you to actually feel the feeling of sickness again any time you see or smell similar food, to prevent you from eating the same thing and getting sick again. That's a pretty good illustration of the difference between analytical and reactive thinking!
